An introduction to all the exhibitions – with a focus on selected artworks.
Welcome to a tour with highlights from the Tangen Collection. We will look at three exhibitions; Between Dreams and Reality, Pictures for a New World, Rebellion and Optimism, as parts of a common narrative; Stories from the Tangen Collection.
The exhibitions are part of a larger collaborative project with external curator Steinar Gjessing who has been a strong contributor to the development of the Tangen Collection, which today includes nearly 7,000 artworks! The collection is therefore the world's largest collection of Nordic modernism. Modernism is a period in our history that began in the late 19th century and lasted until the 1980s. This time was characterized by major changes that came to affect how people lived. Society grew at a tremendous pace in the form of new technological inventions, urbanization, industrialization and, not least, world wars that came to leave lasting traces. We start in the Silo Hall, Ground floor and end on the 4th floor. The tour provides a good starting point for exploring Kunstsilo further on your own.
