Discover all our summer holiday activities for families.

Family Workshop: Create Your Own Dream Diary!
As always, our drop-in family workshop is open on weekends and during school holidays, where children and adults can create together and make something special. Inspired by the exhibition Draumkvedet on the 4th floor, we’ll be making personal diaries filled with illustrations of (summer) dreams. We draw our dreams using needle and thread – and coloured pencils. The workshop is free of charge. Please note: Not available during weeks 26, 32 or 33 due to summer school activities.

Kunstsilo Quest: The Dream Interpreter
Kunstsilo Quest is our brand-new detective game, inspired by the exhibition The Dream Ballad by Torvald Moseid, located on the 4th floor. In the game, you’ll meet a boy named Olav, who has just awoken from a deep 13-day sleep. He remembers only fragments of an extraordinary, unbelievable dream! Your mission is to help Olav piece the memories together—before the dream is lost forever… Recommended group size: 3–5 people Age recommendation: 10+. Children under 10 should play together with an adult. Duration: approx. 30 minutes

Drawing Lab
On the 2nd floor, you’ll find the exhibition From Deep Valleys to Smooth Seaside Rocks, showcasing landscapes and nature from Southern Norway. Inspired by the artists in the exhibition, we’ve set up a drawing table where you can create your own nature studies. Use the magnifying glass to explore the details of the objects—and make your own work of art!

Community Embroidery in The Dream Ballad
The Dream ballad is a 55-meter-long embroidery that tells the story of an extraordinary dream—depicting humanity’s eternal struggle between good and evil. In the adjoining interpretation space, you’ll find activities to enjoy with your family. Join our large community embroidery project with needle and thread!

Step into the painting – Experience Amaldus Nielsen in S-Lab
In S-Lab on the 2nd floor, you can step into Amaldus Nielsen’s oil painting Linadalen ved Mandal. What happens if you step into the puddle on the floor—or get too close to the magpie? This immersive version of the painting, brought to life in our whitebox space, can also be seen in its original form on the wall in the exhibition From Deep Valleys to Smooth Rocks.

Delicious Food for All Ages at the Brasserie
Our Brasserie offers something tasty for everyone – including a dedicated kids’ menu! How about traditional norwegian fish cakes with fries, or perhaps a naan pizza? For dessert, we tempt you with scoops of ice cream – or the ultimate treat, Chocolate Dream, with brownie bites, ice cream, strawberries, and popcorn!
